World Indie Chart is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Irish and EU data protection law.
1. Who we are
World Indie Chart is operated by MusiBiz, an Irish music-services company. For data-protection purposes, we are the data controller of the personal information you provide through this website.
2. What data we collect
We collect:
- Account data: email address, password hash, and profile information you provide when signing up.
- Artist profile data: name, biography, country, genre, photos, social links, music and video embeds, discography, gallery images, goals, and contact details.
- Usage data: pages visited, chart interactions, follows, and feature usage, collected via analytics to improve the platform.
- Payment data: handled by our payment processors; we do not store complete card details.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- provide and maintain your artist profile and live EPK;
- calculate chart rankings and display public artist information;
- process membership payments and send billing communications;
- send platform updates, feature announcements, and artist tips (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- improve the platform and prevent abuse or fraud.
4. Public and private data
Artist profiles, chart positions, and published updates are public by design so listeners can discover your music. Account email addresses, payment details, and unpublished drafts are private and never displayed publicly.
5. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the basis of contract (to provide the service), legitimate interest (to improve security and platform performance), consent (for marketing emails), and legal obligation (for tax and regulatory requirements).
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the platform. Analytics data is aggregated and pseudonymised where possible.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us run the platform, such as hosting, payment, email delivery, and analytics providers. All providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
8. Data retention
We keep your account and profile data for as long as you maintain an active account. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it by law.
9. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent for marketing communications;
- lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission.
To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@worldindiechart.com.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, secure authentication, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
11. International transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside the European Economic Area. When this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on the platform and, where appropriate, sent by email.
